You have an incredible window of opportunity to teach your child how to read between the ages of birth and five. Your child was born with a God-given gift to naturally learn any language, including the written language of reading.
Preschool Reading…that teaches toddlers how to read with understanding!
Like you, we wanted the best for our children…even before we had children! Back in the days when we could go anywhere…without a stroller!
Before our daughter, Amaris, (the star in the video above) was born, I was a college student majoring in elementary education. I was taking a course that required me to make observations in various classrooms ranging from private preschools to public high schools and alternative programs.
I went to over a dozen elementary schools in all kinds of neighborhoods, and discovered that many of the children couldn’t read! In fact, 1/3 of all struggling readers come from college educated families.
I couldn’t believe it! After that experience, I made a commitment to learn everything I could about reading. As I continued my quest for information, I discovered a book on teaching toddlers how to read (published in the 1960’s). That book changed my outlook on child potential.
I used the principles and strategies in the book to successfully teach our first-born child how to read as a 2 year old, as you have probably seen in the video above. I have continued using these effective principles and strategies as a parent and former early elementary teacher to help my children succeed.
(My first year as a second grade teacher. That year, my students read over 5,000 books. They also passed comprehension quizzes on each book, using a program called Accelerated Reader.)
Early reading lays the foundation for a lifetime of success.
